Biratnagar, Jan 9: Chief of Koshi province Parashuram Khapung administered the oath of office to the newly elected speaker of the Provincial Assembly, Ambar Bahadur Bista here on Tuesday.
Province Chief Khapung administered the oath of office and secrecy to Speaker Bista at a special ceremony held at the Office of the Province Chief in Biratnagar.
Chief Minister Kedar Karki, outgoing and former Chief Ministers Hikmat Kumar Karki, Uddhav Thapa and Rajendra Rai, former Speaker, Ministers, Members of the Provincial Assembly, Heads of Security Agencies and political party leaders and cadres were present at the swearing-in ceremony.
Earlier today, Speaker Bista was elected unopposed in the election held at the Provincial Assembly in accordance with Rule 7 of the Provincial Assembly Rules, 2074 (including first amendment).
Bista is a member of the provincial assembly elected from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP). Now, the so-called pro-monarchy party, RPP, has maintained two Speakers in Koshi and Bagmati Province.
Meanwhile, senior leader of RPP, Mr Prakash Chandra Lohani, has raised voice against the decision on contesting for the Speaker in Koshi Province. “It’s a decision against the set principle of the party,” he has said. #Nepal
