Sandeep breaks Rashid Khan’s highest wicket taking ODI record

Kathmandu, April 21: Sandeep Lamichhane, the leg spinner of the Nepali cricket team, has set the record for the fastest player to take 100 wickets.

Sandeep made the record by taking a wicket against Oman under the ACC Premier Cup. Sandeep reached the target of 100 wickets in just 42 matches. He broke the record of fastest wicket taken by Afghanistan bowler Rashid Khan in 44 matches.

Rashid Khan was the fastest player to complete hundred wickets in ODIs. Now, while Sandeep remains in the first position, Rashid Khan has dropped to the second position.

Similarly, Australia’s Mitchell Starc is in third place. Starc took 100 wickets in 52 matches.

Meanwhile, Nepal remains comfortable position in today’s match played against Oman at the TU Cricket Groun at Kirtipur.

After losing toss, Nepal was forced to bat first. Nepal scored mammoth 308 runs in 50 overs after loosing 8 wickets. Nepali batsman Kushal Malla top scored with 108 runs. Facing 64 balls, he hit 10 sixes and 9 fours. Likewise Sompal Kami scored 63 runs facing 48 balls.

At one stage, Nepal’s both the opening batsman Kushal Bhurtel and Aashif Sheikh were out without scoring a single run. Nepal was in trouble after losing four wickets in 72 runs.

But Kushal Malla and Sompal Kami managed to present a comfortable position.

Chasing a target of 309 runs, Oman has already lost 4 wickets in 89 runs in 21 overs.
