SCO: An Organization against the Hegemony and Working for an Equitable International Order

Samarkand declaration has clearly sent a message to the global community that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is hugely committed to expand cooperation for a democratic, equitable and inclusive international order. SCO members are against the hegemony and don’t accept any types of interferences in the other’s internal matters. It works collectively for a peace, prosperity and security of the entire world. With becoming international organization from regional organization, SCO’s recent summit has succeeded to flow new commitment for a collective effort to create the more safe, prosperous and inclusive world.

Last Thursday and Friday, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) conference took place in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. Due to its timing, the meeting garnered attention on a global scale. Based on shared interests and international system, the SCO encourages extensive collaboration and security. As a result, when new nations join the SCO, the surrounding nations do not perceive a threat. The willingness of new nations to sign on as members is a sign that the organization is expanding and rising in popularity.

The visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Central Asia comes at a time when the political and socioeconomic landscapes of the countries in the region are undergoing profound transformations. The SCO is a striking illustration of the diversity of the global world, where many nations come together for constructive cooperation. The SCO summit undoubtedly demonstrated how a multipolar world in transition has a solid non-Western pillar on which the international community can rely.

Multilateral organizations are the foundation of international cooperation, and the SCO is an example of effective regional cooperation. The SCO has been able to bring together nations with various national development models, foreign policy philosophies, and cultural and civilizational values. The SCO has advanced significantly over a short period of world history and is now a crucial part of the current international political and economic system.

The SCO bases all of its decisions on consensus. It makes no difference how large a country’s territory or GDP is. The issue is goodwill toward mutually advantageous collaboration on a variety of real-world issues. The goodwill approaches are introduced by the SCO. Human values, a strong international legal framework, cordial relations between nations, and positive relations among peoples represent some examples of goodwill approaches. As a result, the SCO is giving all interested nations new chances for economic growth that will benefit all parties. Furthermore, none of the member nations tells another what to do.

The SCO may contribute significantly and concretely to conflict resolution, for instance, enhancing peace and security inside its own “zone of responsibility”. For instance, India and Pakistan, two SCO members, are at odds with one another over Kashmir. If the SCO strategically succeeds in helping to resolve this territorial dispute, it will serve as a powerful example of how to resolve conflict-prone problems for other nations and regions.
Additionally, the SCO is more considerately situated to carry out a number of programs on reactivating cooperation in the political, economic, trade, cultural-humanitarian, and other domains. The SCO has been a platform for member states to be mobilized for extensive cooperation since its formation. To maintain regional peace and stability over the long term, nations should increase their security cooperation.

The SCO member nations have engaged in real and effective security cooperation over the years with an eye toward ensuring the region’s overall security and stability.

It is even more crucial to adhere to the vision of common, comprehensive, cooperative, and sustainable security, build a balanced, effective, and sustainable security architecture, continuously improve the level of law enforcement and security cooperation within the SCO, and firmly prevent terrorist and extremist forces from undermining regional security in the face of a complex and unstable regional security environment
To bring a shared vision of development and renewal to life, nations must strengthen their practical cooperation. The development of each SCO nation is at a pivotal point. They should take advantage of their special advantages of proximity to one another and shared interests. To accomplish integrated regional economic development, stimulate growth vitality, and provide a better life for their citizens, they should uphold the goal of innovative, coordinated, green, open, and shared growth.

To strengthen public support for the long-term development of the SCO, nations should improve intercultural and people-to-people exchanges. Mutual learning among civilizations provides the SCO’s development with the strongest basis, while human connections provide the organization with its greatest strength.

The core values and efforts of the SCO in advancing real multilateralism in the international arena and offer the group a bigger say in creating a more just and equitable system of global governance. These aspects go beyond bloc politics and put true multilateralism into practice. The security of the global order and the peaceful advancement of humanity are gravely threatened by some countries’ adoption of phony multilateralism, which prioritizes their own interests above all else and aims to create exclusive cliques.

The SCO is still dedicated to upholding the objectives and tenets of the UN Charter, as well as the idea of equality for all nations, regardless of size. Members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) respect one another’s fundamental interests and development priorities, adhere to the principle of win-win cooperation for the benefit of all parties involved, and support peaceful coexistence, mutual learning between various nations, peoples, and cultures, as well as dialogue between civilizations and the search for common ground while putting aside differences.

Countries should support multilateralism and cooperate to create a more just and equitable global order. In the face of hegemonic practices, bullying, and power politics, the SCO should take on its proper international responsibility by defending the international system centered on the UN and the order based on international law, advancing the universal human values, increasing the SCO’s interactions with other regional and global organizations like the UN, and more.

In conclusion, the spirit and message of SCO’s declaration or efforts of SCO nations clearly shows that it is truly working hard to give resolution of the multiple challenges the world facing now. For it as SCO declaration says new international order and new types of solidarity, cooperation and partnership is required. Global community can’t accept any types of hegemony and zero-sum game. As per new global context, there should be new commitment, understanding and cooperation is necessary among the responsible members of the global community.
