Kathmandu, April 10: The Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) has suspended the brokerage license of Bhrikuti Stock Broking Company Pvt. Ltd. with immediate effect.
According to a formal notice issued by the regulator, the action was taken following multiple regulatory violations by the firm. The most serious breach involved the misuse of client funds, where money from one group of investors was used to settle transactions of others.
The company was also found to have violated standard settlement procedures and allowed clients to purchase shares without the mandatory 25 percent advance payment.
SEBON noted that as of March 2026, the firm owes approximately Rs. 5.11 billion to investors, posing a significant financial risk to the capital market.
The board warned that allowing the company to continue operations could lead to further losses for investors and destabilize the market.
During the suspension period, the firm has been directed to settle all outstanding liabilities and provide necessary technical support to clients wishing to transfer their accounts to other brokerage firms. #nepal #stock #sebon
