Security strengthened in view of Chinese President’s visit



            Kathmandu, Oct 9 : Security arrangements in the Kathmandu Valley have been strengthened with President of People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping scheduled to visit Nepal.

            In a press statement today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the Chinese President is paying a two-day state visit to Nepal commencing from coming Saturday. 

            With the Foreign Ministry’s unveiling the visit schedule, Valley’s security has been tightened, according to Metropolitan Police Office Ranipokhari’s Chief Deputy Inspector General of Police Shailesh Thapa Chhetri. Preparations are going on in full-swing for the security arrangements of the Chinese President’s visit.

            “We have prepared to depute security personnel as per the visit schedule of the Chinese President and are determined not to leave any stone unturned on our part,” he said.

Preparations are going on to bring additional human resources from outside the Valley for the security during the visit.

            The Nepal Army will be in the front line for the security of Xi followed by the Nepal Police in the second cordon, while the Armed Police Force will be in the third circle and the National Investigation Department will provide security from the fourth cordon.            

The Chinese President is arriving on the two-day state visit to Nepal at the friendly invitation of President Bidya Devi Bhandari.
