Seventeen arrested in Kathmandu on charge of gambling

Kathmandu, Nov 14: Police have arrested 17 people from Swoyambhu and Sankhu on the charge of gambling. A team mobilized from the Police Circle, Swoyambhu arrested some gamblers from a gambling den in the area along with Rs 400,000, playing cards and dice.

Kumodh Dhungana, the spokesperson for the District Police Range, Kathmandu, said that a team mobilized from the Sankhu Police Sector arrested some people from Nanglebhare of Shankharapur Municipality-1 also on the charge of gambling. Police confiscated Rs 117,000 from them.

Meanwhile, spokesperson of the Valley Traffic Police Office Rajendra Prasad Bhatta said the traffic police have been carrying out checking as per the prescheduled plan as part of the Office’s campaign of prevention and checking of traffic accidents likely due to drunk-driving during the Tihar festivities.
