Shantipur temple renovated and reconstructed



Kathmandu, Oct 15 : Shantipur temple located at Swayambhunath temple premises has been renovated at a cost of Rs 40 million. Swayambhunath temple has been enlisted in the list of World heritage Site.

The Shantipur temple had suffered massive damage due to the Gorkha earthquake in April, 2015.

The Swayambhunath Management and Conservation Committee carried out renovation and reconstruction of the damaged temple.

Committee General Secretary Mahendra Ratna Bajracharya said that temple was renovated and reconstructed from the financial assistance collected from national and foreign donor agencies.

The Shantipur temple has been located some 300 metres away from Swayambhu Mahachaitya. There are important heritages including Shantipur, Agnipur, Nagpur, Bayupur and Anantapur at the premises of Swayambhunath.

According to the Department of Archeology, the Gorkha earthquake had damaged a total of 753 temples, Buddhist temples and monasteries.
