Kathmandu, Jan 11: Singer and actor Prashant Tamang died of cardiac arrest on Sunday morning.
He was 42. Tamang’s demise ran a shock wave to the Nepali-speaking communities across the world, including Darjeeling, India where he was born.
Tamang had risen to prominence after reaching the finale of the Indian TV reality show and becoming the Indian Idol-3 from the competitive show.
With this, he earned much popularity among Nepali-speaking communities. In addition to singing, he also created a niche for himself in acting after acting Nepali films. Audiences were not only enthralled by his singing but also enjoyed his acting.
Prashant entered the Nepali cinema as a playback singer through Himmat-2 movie. The Gorkha Paltan was another film featuring his vital role. His acting career started with this movie.
On his demise, Nepali actress Keki Adhikari took to social media and extended her heartfelt condolences.
She recalled that the moments spent with Tamang during their project as ‘memorable’ one. Reminiscing her modeling in the song ‘Manshaili’ sung by Tamang, she said she cherishes those moment.
Adhikari further recollected their working together in Pardeshi-2 movie, saying his smile remains vivid in her memory.
Likewise, another artist Deepashree Niraula remembered late Tamang and shared old photos with him in her Facebook. She not only praised Tamang’s singing and acting but also his friendly nature. #nepal #rss
