Baglung, Feb 28: The Baglung section of the Mid-Hills Highway has been blocked due to continuous snowfall and rainfall since this morning.
The Nishikhola-East Rukum section of the highway in Baglung district has become impassable due to heavy snow accumulation, with nearly one and a half feet of snow piling up at Patihalne in Nishikhola Rural Municipality-6.
According to Rural Municipality Chairperson Surya Bahadur Ghartimagar, vehicle movement to and from East Rukum, West Rukum, Jajarkot, Dolpa, and other nearby areas has come to a halt due to the obstruction.
“It has been raining since morning, and now the snowfall has intensified. As of now, road conditions do not allow for the resumption of vehicular movement. However, if the snowfall stops, efforts will be made to clear the road using dumpers,” Ghartimagar said.
Although night buses from Kathmandu managed to pass through the area in the morning, all short and long-route vehicles have now been halted due to worsening conditions.
Meanwhile, snowfall has also disrupted daily life in the upper regions of Dhorpatan, further adding to the difficulties faced by local residents. #snowfall #nepal
