Humla, Dec 9: The Himalayan district of Humla has experienced its first snowfall of the year. Following changes in weather on Sunday evening and strong winds during the day, snowfall began late last night.
As of this morning, Simkot, the district headquarters, is covered with three inches of snow, while higher-altitude areas like Limi in Namkha Rural Municipality have accumulated about a foot of snow, according to Log Bohara, a health worker at the Limi Health Post.
The delayed snowfall this year has brought joy to local farmers, who believe the weather will stabilize and crops will flourish after the snowfall. Farmers are optimistic that the snow will benefit crops such as wheat, barley, and buckwheat.
The snowfall has turned Simkot and surrounding hills white, but it has also disrupted daily life. Areas in northern Namkha, including Chala, Limi, Hilsa, and Yari, have been particularly affected. The cold has intensified, and Humla’s temperature had already dropped below freezing prior to the snowfall. #snowfall #nepal
