
Karachi, Feb 21: In the third match of Group B at the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, South Africa won by 107 runs against Afghanistan.
After winning the toss, South Africa chose to bat, and set a formidable target of 316 runs at the National Stadium in Karachi, Pakistan.
South African batsman Ryan Rickelton played a magnificent inning. He scored 103 runs facing 106 balls, and later declared as man of the match. Likewise, Temba Bavuma (captain) scored 58, Rassie van der Dussen 52 and Aiden Markram 52 runs.
Chasing a mammoth target of 316 runs, Afghanistan team collapsed in 208 runs in 43.3 overs. In a slow pitch, Afghan batsman Rahmat Shah managed to score 90 runs. But other batsmen couldn’t contribute bigger partnership. The South African bowlers, both pacers and spinners, restricted Afghan batters.
South African bowlers Kagiso Rabada took 3 wickets while Lungi Ngidi Wiaan Mulder took 2 wickets each. Likewise, Marco Jansen and Keshav Maharaj both took one wicket each.
