Special Court fines Puri more than Rs 4 crores in the money laundering case

Kathmandu, Feb 18: The Special Court has decided to fine of Rs. 4 crores from Rewat Raj Puri (Gagan) on charges of money laundering.

The bench of Special Court Chairman Teknarayan Kunwar, Judges Tej Narayan Singh Rai and Muraribabu Shrestha decided to impose fine after Mr Puri was found guilty in the money laundering case.

Dhan Bahadur Karki, the spokesperson of the Special Court, informed that it has been decided to confiscate assets equal to the amount claimed in the indictment. The court acquitted Manmaya Puri and Devkumar Puri, who were made defendants, and decided that the land in the name of Krishna Kumari Puri and Sangeeta Puri will not be confiscated.

In Damak-13, known as the ‘Baluwatar scandal’ of Jhapa district, the Department of Money Laundering had filed a case against them with the conclusion that they had acquired wealth by usurping government land. #Nepal
