Over 8,000 racers compete in 4th series of ‘Right to Protein’ marathon

Kathmandu, Jan 25: The forth series of ‘Right to Protein’ marathon has concluded. The event was organized by Nepal Veterinary Association.

Out of eight different categories under the championship, Santoshi Shrestha and Rajan Rokaya won the title of Open Half-Marathon. Similarly, Sanjay Shrestha stood first towards 10-km (open) under men category, while Phoolmati Rana towards 5-km race (open) under women category, Lokendra Bohara towards 5-km under men category for students up to grade 12 and Asmita Bhujel towards three-km under women category for students up to grade 12.

Coordinator of the organising committee, Dr Sheetal Kaji Shrestha, said Aishwarya Kumari Kumal and Ramesh Khatri won the title of wheelchair race for differently able persons towards women and men category respectively.
Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Ram Nath Adhikari, Member-Secretary of National Sports Council, Tanka Lal Ghising, among others presented cash prize, certificate and medal to the 40 winners of eight different categories.

The winner of half-marathon under men and women category received Rs 150,000 each while first runner up athlete got Rs 100,000 and second runner-up Rs 70,000. Similarly, title winner of 10-km race received Rs 50,000, first runner up Rs 40,000 and second runner up Rs 30,000.

Under the championship, winner, first runner up, second runner up athletes towards three-kilometer race got Rs 30,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 15,000 respectively.Likewise, the racers securing first position towards wheelchair race received Rs 30,000, first runner up runner Rs 20,000 and second runner up athlete Rs 15,000 respectively. Around 8,000 runners had participated in the marathon, according to organizer. #nepal #sport #rss
