Tourism, agriculture, medicinal herbs economic boosters in Karnali

Surkhet, Nov 26: Tourism, agriculture and medicinal herbs have been regarded as economic boosters in Karnali region.
A study report mentioned it during a stakeholder discussion organized by International IDEA Nepal in Birendranagar on Monday. The report dwelt on economic growth and its potential in Karnali Province.
Province programme officer of IDEA Nepal, Khagendra Chamling Rai, said the report was prepared based on periodic plan, economic survey, interaction with key persons, and inspection visits.
“The discussion was held with development partners, active women, industrialists and entrepreneurs, civil employees, civil society members and politicians so that the problems identified would be resolved in collaborative manner,” he added.
Similarly, another programme officer at IDEA Nepal, Pramod Bhagat, made presentation on the issues like goal of building organic Karnali of province government, golden triangle route, tourism, sustainable agricultural production in lower Karnali and infrastructures, among others.
Similarly, project manager Prakash Jha said government could pay heed to supply chain. Once the marketing of the products here was ensured, it would help boost citizen’s income.
On the occasion, spokesperson at Ministry of Internal Affairs and Planning, Mahendra Jung Shahi, said use of forest resource, reliable road network and integrated human settlement were imperative for the development of Karnali Province.
Province member of National Rural Municipalities’ Federation and Chairman of Chaukune rural municipality, Kadga BK, said every profession needs to be identified and given due recognition to establish economic link.
The issues as documentation, infrastructure development, grading of indigenous crops, packaging, marketing of agro products, micro enterprises, and investment in agriculture, medicinal herbs and tourism featured significantly during the event. #karnali #tourism #rss #nepal
