CHITWAN: Traffic has resumed in the Narayangadh-Muglin Road that was closed today morning following a landslide.

The road was obstructed after a landslide occurred in Tope River at ward no 6 of Icchakamana rural municipality in Chitwan district at around 8:45 am.

According to the District Police Office, Chitwan, two-way traffic resumed in the road after clearing off the debris. The road has been obstructed repeatedly in various sections due to landslide since last Wednesday.

Due to long queue of vehicles, it would take a long time to cross the road section blocked by landslide.

North-South Road in Sankhuwasabha

Meanwhile, incessant rain has obstructed the North-South Road leading to Bhotkhola rural municipality in Sankhuwasabha district today.

The landslide occurred at Sammatar of Makalu rural municipality-3 along the Khandbari-Kimathanka road section at round 7:00 am, informed North-South road office chief engineer Dipesh Rajak.

It has been raining incessantly for two days in the district. The landslide debris could not be removed until the rain stops, said Rajak, adding that it would take additional 4 to 5 days to clear off the debris once the rain stops.

Transportation services have been shut down in Bhotkhola rural municipality and some wards of Makalu rural municipality due to obstruction of the road.

The road leading to Bhotkhola rural municipality has reopened recently after shutting down for nearly a month.

Anbukhaireni section of Prithvi Highway

Likewise, vehicular movement along the Anbukhaireni section of Prithvi Highway has been disrupted as the road collapsed following a heavy rain since last night.

Almost 20 metres road near Sankhar in the highway has collapsed obstructing the two-way traffic, police said.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Tanahun Yubraj Khadka said traffic resumption is not likely very soon until a bailey bridge is fixed adding that the surface of the road is dampened from its bottom, making it difficult for prompt repair.

According to DSP Khadka, the vehicles have been diverted to their previous routes as immediate maintenance of the road there was not possible.
