TU Property Investigation Commission submits report to Prime Minister

Kathmandu, Dec 17: The Property and Land Investigation Commission of Tribhuvan University (TU) submitted its report to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Tuesday.

The Commission member Mahendra Thapa handed over the report to the Prime Minister Oli at his official residence in Baluwatar where he briefed on report’s key points. The Minister for Education, Science, and Technology Bidya Bhattarai and other university officials also attended.

The five-member commission was formed on Jestha 17, 2081BS under the leadership of former secretary Sharda Prasad Trital, following a Cabinet decision. Earlier, on Mangsir 14, the commission had presented its findings to Education Minister Bidya Bhattarai.

After receiving the report, Prime Minister Oli emphasized the need for immediate implementation of the commission’s recommendations. He also suggested further study and investigation into areas the commission had been unable to explore. As the Chancellor of Tribhuvan University, PM Oli stressed the importance of reaching concrete conclusions by extending the investigation into unresolved areas.

Due to the poor health of coordinator Sharada Prasad Trital, member Mahendra Thapa took charge of finalizing the report.
The document provides an overview of the status, misuse, and proposed solutions for the management of land across 21 campuses in the Kathmandu Valley, including Kirtipur, Naikap, Dhungeadda, and Patan, dating back to 2013BS.

The commission recommended that cases of land misuse be referred to the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) and the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of the Nepal Police.

The report also suggests measures to address land misuse and optimize its utilization for the benefit of Tribhuvan University and the education sector. #nepal #TU #land
