Twenty five gamblers held with Rs 26.7 million



Kathmandu, Oct 27 : A police squad from the Metropolitan Police Circle Maharajgunj has arrested 25 gamblers and confiscated Rs 26.7 million stake money from them.

They were arrested while gambling from the house of Bikram Gautam at Pipalmarga of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-3 on Saturday night.

Chief of the Circle, Deputy Superintendent Umesh Lamsal said the gamblers were arrested red-handed while playing dice with huge amount of money as stake.

Those arrested in this connection are Balram Sapkota, Sovit Silwal, Pradip Bogati, Ram Krishna KC, Indu Shrestha, Ranjan Rajbanshi, Sitaram Khadka, Roshan Tamang, Ram Tamang, Krishna Bhandari, Suman Gurung, Suman Agrawal, Sodel Karki, Pawan Agrawal, Pabitra Kumar Karki, Balram Sapkota, Mukti Lama, Bhakta Tamang, Shambhu Budhathoki, Prem Thapa Magar and Ashok Shrestha.

Also arrested in this connection are Halam Prasad Parajuli, Buddha Lama, Thanku Sherpa and Nawang Lama. Police said legal action would be taken against them.

Gamblers apprehended with Rs 500 thousand

Palpa: Thirteen people have been arrested along with approximately Rs 500 thousand while playing dice at Dabaka of Ribdikot rural municipality-7 this morning.

Police arrested them from an unoccupied house at Dabaka while they had been gambling, Deputy Superintendent at the District Police office Palpa, Krishna Raj Sapkota, said.

Police confiscated Rs 545 thousand 855 from the gamblers. Out of this amount, 2,520 is Indian currency.
