Kathmandu, June 13: Police have arrested two Bangladeshi nationals from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) after recovering cash worth approximately Rs 3.15 million concealed in specially modified suitcases.

According to the Tribhuvan International Airport Security Office, the suspects were detained on Thursday afternoon while preparing to board a flight to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The arrested individuals have been identified as Mohammad Intaz Ali and Mohammad Zakir Hossain, both citizens of Bangladesh.

During routine baggage screening, airport security personnel discovered Nepalese currency, US dollars and Malaysian ringgit hidden inside suitcases with false bottoms. The total seized amount is estimated at Rs 3,151,000.

Police investigations have revealed that Ali had travelled to Nepal 38 times, while Hossain had entered the country 11 times, prompting further scrutiny of their activities.
