UAE envoy meets Speaker Aryal, discusses expanding bilateral cooperation

Kathmandu, June 18: Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Nepal, Abdulla Saeed Mubarak Jarwan Al Shamsi, paid a courtesy call on Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal on Thursday, with the two sides discussing ways to deepen cooperation across a range of sectors.

During the meeting, they exchanged views on Nepal-UAE bilateral relations, parliamentary cooperation, trade, investment, tourism, labour, technology, air connectivity and artificial intelligence.

Speaker Aryal described the UAE as one of Nepal’s key development and economic partners, particularly in terms of employment opportunities for Nepali workers, trade and investment. He stressed the need to further expand economic and development cooperation between the two countries.

The Speaker also requested the UAE government to reconsider and simplify the requirement for Nepali citizens to submit a mandatory police clearance report during the UAE visa application process.

Highlighting the government’s ongoing governance reforms, Aryal said Nepal is working to make public service delivery more effective, transparent, digital and citizen-friendly.

He reaffirmed Nepal’s commitment to creating an investment-friendly environment and called for greater collaboration in investment, infrastructure, tourism, energy and technology, in line with the UAE’s Vision 2031 development strategy.

Welcoming the approval for direct Pokhara-Dubai-Pokhara flights beginning on September 23, Aryal expressed confidence that the new air service would strengthen Pokhara’s connectivity with international destinations and promote tourism and business exchanges.

He also urged the UAE side to consider resuming direct Dubai-Bhairahawa-Dubai flights to improve air connectivity with western Nepal.

Ambassador Al Shamsi said Nepal-UAE relations are friendly, cordial and multifaceted, adding that the UAE government remains committed to further strengthening cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, energy, technology and people-to-people exchanges. #nepal
