KATHMANDU: Nepalese diaspora in Europe has informed that 11 Nepalese have been found stuck on the border (in forest) of Lithuania and Belarus.

According to Chiran Sharma, who was active on rescue and repatriation of Nepalese from Ukrain and Russia, said that most of stranded people were from Russia. He said, “They were working in Russia since 4 years as workers and students.”

“Around 4th of March, they started their journey from Russia due to feeling endanger of life there, they planned to enter into Schengen countries. They started travel by foot. After some days of travel, they arrived on the border of Lithuania but the police returned them to Belarus, again Belarus police pushed them back Lithuania,” shared Sharma.

According to them, now they have problem of money and they can’t buy food. Police have warned all the villagers not to allow them stay nowhere at their residence. Every border police pushed them back giving something to eat and vice versa. They all throw their documents along with the passport of Nepal, due to fearing of any identity of Russia. So all are without legitimate documents.

Now they are trying to survive life and reach to the border of any Schengen countries. Some villagers, providing them chocolates and water for survive, after a long they have received to charge their mobile and find me, said Sharma.

According to them, they don’t have any contact neither of Embassy nor the Nepali community leaders there.

Sharma has requested them to stay safe and wait for the response.

But they were planning to move from there at night (to fleeing the police and border army) towards the border of Poland, dividing the groups by 3 or 4 person. Travelling at night, by foot in the forest without eating and drinking might be dangerous for their life.

Sharma shared, “I provided them my WhatsApp number asking to send me their passport photos if they have, also name list of everyone who are there in group. But neither they wrote nor sent me any documents in my WhatsApp.”

Sharma has requested everyone to try to follow them and help them to move out from the risk zone.
