KATHMANDU: Chairperson of CPN (Maoist Centre) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said as CPN UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli was avoiding dialogue, other political leaders were willing to hold dialogue even by reaching his personal residence, Balkot.
Chairperson Dahal said it during a talk with media editors on the eve of the first national conference of his party on Saturday.
The UML failed to turn up in the all-party meeting called by the government on pressing issue, he reminded.
“The Prime Minister called the all-party meeting but the leader of the major opposition ignored it. So, I told the PM to go to Oli’s residence at Balkot and urge him not to continue parliament impasse. There are other issues to sort out too.”
Maoist Centre Chairperson Dahal asserted that UML Chairperson Oli wants to have the parliament dissolved for the third time, but it would be thwarted.
“We revoked Oli’s first move after street struggle and second from court,” he added.
According to him, change loving forces should be united for the protection of achievements made so far.
The alliance partners, Maoist Centre, CPN (Unified Socialist) and Janata Samajbadi Party were for forging alliance with the likeminded parties in the coming elections.
The Chairperson said, “Sooner or later, Maoist Centre and CPN (Unified Socialist) will unite. We had not split in the past either.”
Maoist Centre not against MCC At the same programme, Chairperson Dahal made it clear that Maoist Centre was not against taking any assistance by the donor countries.
The taskforce formed by the ruling alliance has begun study on the points to which the people have shown concern on US project of MCC.
“Maoist is not against MCC, but people wanted discussion on it. So, the disputed points could be discussed and amended to move forward,” he said, adding that the decision would be taken based on the report of the study taskforce.
He reminded that Nepal had been receiving the assistance provided by the donor countries and agencies since the past.
However, the questions raised on MCC Compact should be resolved, Dahal underscored.
The study taskforce led by senior leader of CPN (Unified Socialist) Jhalanath Khanal has the members- leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha of Maoist Centre, and Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki.
The taskforce has begun discussion on MCC as part of the study.
