USAID roadshow concludes in Kirtipur



Kathmandu, July 16: The USAID roadshow, which commenced from Lumbini Province some two weeks ago, concluded on Monday at Kirtipur of Kathmandu district.

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) organized the roadshow featuring a musical show and flurry of other informative and entertaining activities to impart information among the public about the activities, projects and programmes funded by the USAID in Nepal for the past 63 years.

The roadshow began from Banganga in Kapilvastu district on July 3 was held in Panga of Kirtipur after staging it at Butwal, Lamahi in Dang district, Kohalpur, Nepalgunj in Banke district and Bhrikutimandap in Kathmandu district and Jawalakhel in Lalitpur district.

At the Kirtipur’s event, a troupe of artistes comprising Rima Bishwokarma, Rajan Raj Shiwakoti, Mala Waiba and her team captivated audiences of all age group while fun activities such as ‘spin the wheel’, ‘ring toss’ and quizzes mostly drew the youth.

The first-of-its-kind road show in Nepal also aimed at sensitizing public about the longstanding partnership between Nepal and the USAID through several engaging activities, according to the USAID.

The USAID has been supporting various national and local level projects in Nepal in five major sectors such as health, education, democracy, rights and governance, economic growth and environment and resilience, it was shared.

It may be noted that the USAID has provided one and a half billion US dollars (more than 196 billion) to support Nepal’s bid for development in the areas of infrastructure, agriculture, women and girls empowerment, humanitarian aid, good governance, civil society and communication and business development since 2000, said the USAID.

The grant assistance received from the American people has contributed significantly to the prosperity of Nepal.

According to the USAID, over a million of Nepali women were directly benefitted through programmes related to health, education and economic growth while around five million women were indirectly benefited through various programmes in 2023.

The grant assistance provided by the American people through the USAID has significantly contributed to the socio-economic transformation of the country, thereby further aiding the country’s journey towards prosperity. #nepal #usaid
