KATHMANDU: Leaders of the proposed CPN-Unified Socialist Party led by Madhav Kumar Nepal have reached the Election Commission for verification of their signature.
The Election Commission had called for the in-person verification of the leaders who had applied during the party registration. The Commission has informed that the party registration process led by Nepal would be completed on Wednesday.
They had been holding a party meeting at the Chandragiri Hills Resort since Monday evening. They reached the Commission directly from the Resort on Wednesday morning. At present, identification work is being done in the Commission.
Identification is scheduled for Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Accordingly, the names of the leaders mentioned in the party registration application have to be identified in person.
According to Jeevan Ram Shrestha of the proposed CPN-Unified Socialist Party, 54 central members of the then UML and 34 federal parliamentarians have gone to the Commission for their signature verification.
Similarly, the Democratic Socialist Party led by Mahantha Thakur has also been called for the party registration process. Thakur’s leaders are also being verified by the Election Commission later today.
Election Commission sources said that they have prepared to hand over certificate today.
