Voice of Women Group organise fundraiser event for autism awareness



KATHMANDU: The Voice of Women Group, a social organization, has organised a fundraiser event for autism awareness in Kathmandu. The event “Scoot-a-thon” was sponsored by Yamaha Nepal.

A total of 51 girls and women riders from various parts of Kathmandu with age group ranging from 19 to 65 with their navigators were taking part in the event.

The chief guest of the event was Dr. Sunita Maleku, the founder Chairperson of Autism Care Nepal Society. The other dignitaries were President of ICAN Mr Ravi Pansari, Inspector Ms. Prassiddhika Kandel from Tripureswor Police Station, Lion Man Bahadur Roka, Lion Balkrishna Burlakoti, Lion Sulochana Manandhar, Lion Dilip Mittal, Ms. Rupy Singh and Ms.Gita Puri from Rupys International School, Dr.Samaira Khan, Ms.Subekchya Bhattarai and Mr.Ritesh Singh from Yamaha Nepal and Mr.Manish Goyal and Mrs. Mamata Goyal from Classic Makers.

The event started with participants flowing to the venue at Soaltee Hotel early morning from 6 am with all joy and excitement to perform their tasks and relieve their childhood moments. The President of Lions Club of Kathmandu Ms.Pooja Parliwal has said that the event has been created and designed to set up a bench mark in Lions history.

Looking at the pre event and post event scenario President Maleku applauded the capability and dedication of all the VOW members.

According to the VOW, it is just taking its baby step and just 9 months old Community running in Kathmandu providing services to homeless with their selfless love for homeless project that runs every Thursday 5am, empowering women through various projects and main of all providing autism awareness 2 hour workshops to the school teachers on the schools demand. “To do anything for a cause, one must know the depth about it. So VOW aims to be an organization who will be providing various types of services to the childrens with autism and their family in near future,” the VOW said in a statement.

Fighting all the odds like election time and bad weather VOW team had beautifully managed to take out the event sharp at 7 am from the venue and what the show it was 51 scooters on a flow with 102 white t-shirt flowing in the air,ready to take the tasks on their hand. They were provided various clues for their tasks on provided routes and they had to perform their tasks and post their pictures declaring their task completion. There were all together 14 spots to visit with various tasks designed by the organizing team. They are thankful to Voice of Women team for organizing this type of unique event to flow the social message like Autism awareness.

As any other events this too had the best performers among the 51 participants. Their names were Shreeya Chetani, Neha Agarwal, Sweetie Agrawal and Rekha Modi Mitruka. The event was escorted by an ambulance with medical team and team from Traffic police personnel too. And ending this in the note that Women groups can do wonder if they had a great leader like Lion Pooja Parliwal and team like she has it now.

Event credits for the best performance with following all the traffic rules and instructions and enter first at venue after treasure hunt with complete all task goes to Lion Neha Agarwal, Board of Director of Lions Club of Kathmandu VOW, and her navigator Mr Sandeep Agarwal as they participated in this event just to motivate and encourage all contestants and to support AUTISM.

“Yes, we have still great heroes in society. VOW IS BLESSED TO HAVE TEAM LIKE THEM,” declared Charter President Lion Pooja Palriwal.
