We are determined to implement budget from day one : Finance Minister Poudel

KATHMANDU. Minister for Finance Bishnu Prasad Poudel has urged not to doubt the implementation of the budget for the coming fiscal year 2021/22.

At a press conference held at the Ministry of Finance on Sunday, Minister Poudel claimed that the budget came with a clear plan, commitment and resolution.

“I want to make sure that this budget is not just for announcement, but for implementation, to achieve the goals set out in the budget. Control of the Covid-19 pandemic should have focused on prevention and treatment, and the budget has been focused accordingly. We implement the programs presented for the prevention, control and treatment of Covid-19 infection,” he said.

Minister Poudel said that the budget was focused on restoring the economy to its old rhythm. The government has a clear plan and vision for solving those problems arised due to Covid pandemic.

He also expressed his commitment to realize the dream of prosperity by making the economy run smoothly by facing the challenges seen in the economic sector.

Minister Poudel said that discussions on budget implementation would be taken forward from tomorrow and the implementation campaign would be intensified.

Finance Minister Poudel said that the government has allocated the necessary budget for the election and all efforts will be made to conduct the election in a free and fair manner. “Every effort will be made to conduct the election in a free and fair manner. Necessary budget has been allocated for the election,” he said.

He said that the revenue targets have been set with the belief that after vaccination, the economy will move forward and return to the old rhythm. Finance Minister Poudel claimed that the budget was brought to fulfill the mandate and not to impress the voters.

Stating that the government did not come to power by overtaking the constitutional process and the mandate obtained was not broken, he said that the ruling party has the right to win the trust of the people even after the election like other parties.

He expressed his commitment to implement the budget and come up with the necessary policies, programs and plans to address the current challenges and achieve the targets set in the budget.
