Kathmandu, Aug 25: Nepal suffered its first defeat in the four-nation series before the ICC Women’s T20 Asia Qualifiers. Nepal, who had won two matches earlier, lost to Malaysia by 6 wickets in the third match today.
Batting first, Nepal gave Malaysia a modest target of 85 runs. Malaysia lost 4 wickets in 16.2 overs and found the target. Malaysian opener Ainna Hamizah (not out) scored 37 runs and led the team to victory. Nepal’s Puja Mahato, Sita Ranamagar and Rubina Chhetri took 1 wicket each.
Earlier, after losing the toss and batting first, Nepal scored 83 runs in the game which was reduced to 18 overs. For Nepal, Nepal’s Rubina Chhetri scored 23 runs in 26 balls, Indu Barma scored 20 runs in 33 balls and Kajal Shrestha scored 18 runs in 21 balls.
