Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier: Nepal vs Hong Kong Match Called Off



Kathmandu, May 9: The match between Nepal and Hong Kong in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier, scheduled to take place today, has been called off without a toss due to a soggy outfield brought onby rain in Thailand, where the tournament began today.

As a result, both teams have been awarded one point each.

Nepal is set to play its second encounter against Bahrain on May 12 (Baisakh 29). The Asia Qualifier features teams from host Thailand, Nepal, Bhutan, Kuwait, Qatar, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Bahrain, and the UAE, divided into three groups.

Nepal is in Group ‘C’ along with Hong Kong and Bahrain. Group ‘A’ includes Thailand, Bhutan, and Kuwait, while Group ‘B’ comprises UAE, Malaysia, and Qatar.

The group stage will follow a double round-robin format, where each team plays the others in its group twice. The top team from each group will advance to the Super Three stage. Following the league phase of the Super Three, the top two teams will qualify for the Global Qualifier.
