1.5 million fake bank notes seized in Bhaktapur

Kathmandu, Aug 11: The Nepal Police team recovered a large amount of fake bank notes from Changu in Bhaktapur on Thursday evening. A joint team of police circle Thankot and police division Changunarayan has recovered 1.5 million fake Nepalese notes.

Thankot police circle has arrested nine people for their involvement in counterfeit currency transactions. Among those arrested, 40-year-old Arjun Subedi, who lives in Balefi Municipality-7 of Sindhupalchok and currently lives in Changu, was raided at the house of Changu Budhatokigaon and seized fake notes, said District Police Complex Bhaktapur SP Prajit KC.

According to the police, the gang was also printing fake notes in Subedi’s house. Superintendent of Police KC informed that the police recovered one color printer, one computer, 12 mobile phones and four scooters from that room.

21-year-old Milan Bhandari, 32-year-old Shiv Bhandari and 23-year-old Shrikrishna Bhandari, resident of Sunkosi Rural Municipality-6 in Sindhupalchok and 26-year-old Sushil Karki, resident of Pepsicola in Kathmandu, have been arrested.

Similarly, Parvati Nepali from Sarabal Rural Municipality-1 of Nawalparasi and now living in Kathmandu, 27-year-old Sagar Acharya from Gulmi’s Badagaon Rural Municipality-2 and now living in Samakhusi, 23-year-old Arjun Budha from Achham and now living in Matatirtha, Kathmandu and 24-year-old from Jhapa now living in Samakhusi were also arrested. Superintendent of Police KC said that all the recovered materials were taken to the police circle Thankot for further investigation.
