15 street children rescued in Damak



Damak: Fifteen street children were rescued from Damak of Jhapa district on Saturday. The children were rescued under the campaign of the State government to make State no. 1 free of street children.

Social Development Minister of State no. 1 Jeevan Ghimire led a team to rescue the children from different streets and centres of Damak. The Nepal Police child search coordination centre help with the rescue task.

Damak Mayor Romnath Oli, deputy Mayor Geeta Adhikari, Secretary at the State Social Development Ministry Bir Bahadur Rai, Damak Police Chief Bijaya Raj Pandit were part of the team that carried out the rescue of the children.

The campaign to free state no. 1 of street children began from Dharan on Friday and will continue in the major cities and town of the state, Secretary Rai said. The rescued children will be rehabilitated and resettled to ensure that they do not end up in the streets again.
