Kathmandu, July 22: Stakeholders and representatives from federal, province and local governments held intensive discussions on policy synchronization for the development of the energy, water resource and irrigation sector.
A thematic committee meeting held on Ministry of Energy, Water Resource and Irrigation organized a meeting on Tuesday to ensure meaningful cooperation among the three layers of government.
The meeting was presided over by Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Biraj Bhakta Shrestha.
According to the Ministry, the discussions were focused on ensuring coordination among the different layers of government for policy harmony as per the spirit of federalism for the development of energy, water resources, irrigation and drinking water sector.
Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister of Lumbini Province Dilliraj Bhusal; Drinking Water, Energy and Irrigation Minister of Bagmati Province Krishna Kumar Tamang; Drinking Water, Irrigation and Energy Minister of Koshi Province Tilchan Pathak and Mayor of Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City Gopal Hamal were present at the meeting.
The meeting has decided to discourage the misuse of water resources and use it as a resource of multidimensional importance, not merely as a commodity.
Likewise, the Water and Energy Commission will be developed as a Knowledge Centre to ensure institutional memory, while policy and legal reforms will be strengthened to make water resources regulations.#nepal #rss
