Kathmandu, March 14: A total of 19 diverse candidates have applied for the vacant post of Chairman at teh Securiies Board of Nepal (SEBON), the regulatory body of Nepalese share market.
The Chairman of SEBON has been vacant from Poush 20, 2080 BS.
The notable applicants include Dr. Nabaraj Adhikari, the acting head of the board, Krishna Raj Pokhrel and Mukti Nath Shrestha, both serving as executive directors, and Chiranjivi Chapagain the former chairman of the Beema Samiti.
Additionally, Krishna Bahadur Adhikari, former CEO of Nepal Bank, and Krishna Bahadur Karki, the current chief executive officer (CEO) of Nepal Stock Exchange, have submitted their applications.
Other applicants include Gopal Prasad Bhatta, former executive director of the Rastra Bank; Neeraj Giri, Dr. Keshab Prasad Shrestha, Ram Krishna Khatiwada, Khagendra Katuwal, Santosh Narayan Shrestha, Surya Prasad Adhikari, Ramdev Yadav, Mukti Aryal, Sitaram Thapaliya (former CEO of NEPSE), Bimal Kumar Tiwari, Prabin Pandak and Raghuraj Kafle have expressed their interest.
The recommendation committee, chaired by Dr. Min Bahadur Shrestha, the vice-chairman of the National Planning Commission, initiated the application process on Falgun 16. The committee will review the submissions and forward three candidates to the Ministry of Finance.
Subsequently, the Ministry of Finance will present the selected candidates to the Council of Ministers for the final appointment of the new Chairman of the Securities Board.
