KATHMANDU: In the last one week, 20 people have died due to floods and landslides in different parts of the country due to incessant monsoon rain.
According to the Nepal Police, 21 people have gone missing and 20 others have been injured during the period. Another 806 people were rescued, said police spokesperson Basanta Bahadur Kunwar.
Twenty people have been injured in floods and landslides in Sindhupalchowk and one in Bajura. Roads in various places closed due to landslides and floods have been reopened. According to the police, the road that was blocked due to landslide in Jumla, Kaski and Baitdil today is being removed.
210 houses have been inundated due to the floods. Three thousand 258 people from seven hundred and forty-eight households have been displaced. Likewise, 630 animals have died in the disaster.
Police personnel, army and armed police from the concerned police offices are active in minimizing and rescuing the damage caused by the incident.
The people of different districts at risk are being kept in a safe place, the property buried in the landslide is being protected and obstructed roads are being removed, Police said.
