22 houses burnt down in Narainapur of Banke

NEPALGUNJ: Twenty-two houses have been destroyed by fire in Suiya, Narainapur Rural Municipality-1 of Banke district on Monday.

Chief District Officer of Banke, Ram Bahadur Kurumwang, said that 22 houses were completely destroyed by the fire in the Dalit settlement of Suiya.

According to the locals, the fire started from the house of Manijar Pasi and spread to other houses in the village. The fire that started at 11 am on Monday was brought under control within two hours with the help of locals and police.

District Disaster Management Committee Banke led by CDO Kurumwang reached the affected area at around 5 pm on Monday and immediately decided to provide cash relief at the rate of Rs 15,000 per family, said Rupan Gyawali, Information Management Officer at the CDO Office.

Similarly, the Nepal Red Cross Society has also provided non-food items worth Rs 7,000 per family to the affected families.

The rural municipality has provided food, said Kurumwang. Now that the locals are upset, the children of the village are facing a lot of problems.
