26 political parties registered for by-election in Rupandehi

Kathmandu, Aug 19: The Election Commission of Nepal (ECN) has registered 26 political parties to contest the by-election in Rupandehi Constituency No. 3, scheduled for November 3 (Kartik 17).

Out of the 27 political parties that applied, 26 fulfilled the legal requirements and were formally registered following the Commission’s decision on Monday, according to Joint Secretary and spokesperson Nita Pokharel Aryal. She said the registration was carried out in line with Article 271 of the Constitution of Nepal and Section 48 of the Political Parties Act, 2016.

The Mongol National Organization was the first party to be registered. Other registered parties include Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), Nepali Party for Nepal, Janamat Party, Rastriya Mukti Andolan Nepal, Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP), Nepali Congress, Rastriya Janamorcha, CPN (Maoist Centre), Janapratinidhi Party Nepal, and CPN (UML).

Similarly, CPN Marxist (Pushpalal), Samyukta Nagarik Party, CPN (Unified Socialist), Nepal Socialist Party (Naya Shakti), CPN (ML), Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal, National Republic Nepal, Rastriya Matribhumi Party, and Nepali Janata Dal have also been registered.

Other registered parties include Rastriya Yatharthabadi Party Nepal, Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Nepal Janamukti Party, Hamro Nepali Party, Bahujan Shakti Party, and Khumbuwan Rastriya Morcha Nepal.

The Commission has also announced the election schedule, setting October 7 (Ashoj 21) as the date for filing nominations. #nepal #election
