33 passengers injured as two buses and a truck collide in Chitwan



Chitwan, Oct 31: Thirty-three passengers were injured in a road accident that occurred late last night at Tikauli forest in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-9, Chitwan.

According to local police, the incident took place around 1 a.m. when a passenger bus (Province 3-03-001 Kha 0123) heading to Kathmandu from Rautahat head-on collided with a truck (Na 6 Kha 813). Another passenger bus (Ba. Pra. 03-001 Kha 3902) coming from Janakpur to Kathmandu also crashed in the same incident.

The accident injured a total of 33 passengers from both buses. Among them, 15 are receiving treatment at Chitwan Medical College, 13 at National City Hospital, and five at Bharatpur Hospital, according to Chitwan Police. Most of the injured are reported to be in normal condition, though some sustained serious injuries.

Police informed that one of the bus drivers was injured, while the other has been taken into custody. The truck driver, however, is on the run.
