35 Central Committee members elected in Nepali Congress

KATHMANDU: The vote counting for the Nepali Congress (NC) central committee members under the open category in the 14th general convention completed on Sunday evening by electing 35 members.

In the vote counting, outgoing general secretary Dr Sashank Koirala got the highest votes among the 35 elected CC members. Dr Koirala got 3,836 votes.

Likewise, other leaders elected to the CC members include NP Saud, Bal Krishna Khand, Udaya Shumsher Rana, Ram Hari Khatiwada, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, Ramesh Lekhak, Shankar Bhandari, Jip Tshiring Lama, Arjunnar Singh KC, Gopal Man Shrestha, Mohan Bahadur Basnet, Sunil Bahadur Thapa and Nain Singh Mahar.

Similarly, Dilendra Prasad Badu, Dr Ram Sharan Mahat, Bal Bahadur KC, Govinda Bhattarai, Kundan Raj Kafle, Dipak Giri, Surendra Raj Pandey, Padhma Narayan Chaudhary, Rajib Dhungana, Guru Baral, Sanjaya Kumar Gautam, Prof Dr Govinda Raj Pokharel, Madan Bahadur Amatya, Ajaya Babu Siwakoti and Ganesh Lama were also elected the CC member under the open category.

The central election committee of the NC said that Dinesh Koirala, Umesh Jung Rayamajhi, Mohan Acharya, Dr Gopal Dahit, Krishna Kishore Ghimire also made into the list.

A total of 99 leaders had filed their nomination to contest the polls for the 35 seats.
