Itahani, July 20: Authorities have sealed 35 pharmacies operating on the premises of the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) in Dharan after a joint inspection found them to be operating in violation of prevailing drug laws and regulations.
According to local police at Dharan, the monitoring campaign began in mid-July and was conducted by a joint team comprising representatives from the police administration, Area Administration Office, Department of Drug Administration’s Biratnagar office, and elected representatives from the concerned wards.
Following the inspection, the authorities sealed the non-compliant pharmacies on Sunday and instructed their owners to appear before the relevant authorities with the required documents for further verification and legal action.
The latest enforcement action comes a month after 12 individuals accused of acting as medical middlemen were arrested from the BPKIHS premises as part of efforts to curb irregularities in the hospital’s healthcare services. #nepal
