52 MW of electricity produced at Rasuwagadhi

Rasuwa, Dec 23: The Rasuwagadhi Hydropower project in Timure, northern Rasuwa, has successfully completed its test production.

The power house was constructed underground in the coastal area of Bhotekoshi at Tatopani in Gosainkunda Rural Municipality-1 and 2.

Three machines, each with a capacity of 33 MW, will be installed in the power house.

Project chief Satyaram Jyakhwa stated that 52 MW of electricity was generated during the first test after the water level in the river decreased due to cold weather. He also mentioned that power will be generated at full capacity when all three units are operational during the rainy season. The total cost of the project is Rs 18.69 billion.

Construction began in 2014 but was delayed due to shortages of petroleum products, the devastating earthquake in 2015, floods in Bhotekoshi during the rainy season, and disruptions in transportation of goods caused by highway blockades during the rainy season. #nepal #hydro #rasuwa
