Kathmandu, Oct 24 : The Beyond Beijing Committee (BBC), Nepal, concluded fifth World Women Conference in Kathmandu by endorsing 20-point Kathmandu declaration.
Women represented in the Committee from all seven states had participated in the conference. The declaration has incorporated various issues including end of all types of discrimination against women, giving full shape to the National Women Commission, implementation of proportional participation and end of child marriage.
At a programme, Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizen, Thamamaya Thapa, said that all three-tier of governments should be responsible and carry out activities to end violence against women.
She said that the government has been making preparation to establish women violence alleviation fund.
Chairperson of Beyond Beijing Committee, Nepal, Shanta Laxmi Shrestha, said that the fourth world women conference held in Beijing of China in 1995 has created an environment where women can put their voices.
Nepal has already expressed its commitment to implement 12 issues highlighted by Beijing Conference by preparing national action plan.
BBC, Nepal, has been working for gender equity, women and child rights since 1994.
