Kathmandu: The country witnessed 818 new cases of coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours including 166 from the Kathmandu valley, the Ministry of Health and Population shared in a daily press briefing this afternoon.
With this, the total number of coronavirus cases reached 18,631 in the country while 11,414 individuals are now quarantined.
Ministry’s Spokesperson Dr Jageshwor Gautam said that 220 are women out of total new cases.
So far, the country conducted the PCR tests of 604,044 individuals. According to Gautam, Kathmandu district recorded 166, Lalitpur 12 and Bhatakpur 28 cases of the pandemic coronavirus.
Likewise, 281 people returned home after winning the battle against the virus in the past 24 hours. Dr Gautam shared that three more individuals died of coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours.
They are from Jhapa, Parsa and Sarlahi districts. Total death toll from coronavirus infection reached 149 in the country with the recent updates.
Currently, the country has 13,155 active cases of coronavirus infection while 3,943 individuals are in home isolation. Similarly, 137 people are receiving treatment in ICU and 10 coronavirus patients from Bagmati State are in ventilators.
Five districts including Mustang, Myagdi and Humla have zero infection cases.
On the occasion, Member Secretary of the Nepal Health Research Council Dr Pradip Gyawali said convalescent plasma therapy has started at 15 hospitals in the country including in BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan, Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Shukraraj Tropical and Infectious Hospital, Narayani Hospital, Kathmandu University School of Science, Bharatpur Hospital, Nepalgunj Medical College, Bheri Provincial Hospital, Seti Provincial Hospital, Grande International Hospital, Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences and Armed Police Force Hospital.
The Health Sector Emergency Response Plan for COVID-19 Communication Strategy has come into force, said Dr Gautam.
The strategy aims to manage internal and external information relating to the disease and circulate information between governments of all three levels in a transparent way, he said.
