Jhapa, July 22: The Mechi Customs Office in Kakarbhitta, eastern Nepal’s primary trade hub, collected Rs 17.67 billion in revenue during the fiscal year 2025/26.
The revenue collection from the Office witnessed a growth of 11 per cent in the last fiscal year compared to the fiscal year 2023/24.
The total revenue collection of the last fiscal year was Rs 1.74 billion more compared to the previous fiscal year 2023/24 from this customs point. The revenue collection from the Office was Rs 15.93 billion in the previous year.
However, the Office failed to meet the target set for revenue collection in the last fiscal year.
The Office was given a target to collect Rs 18.87 billion in revenue. According to the Mechi Customs Office, it collected 93 percent of the total target in the fiscal year 2024/25.
The major imports from the Mechi Customs included petroleum products, garments, chemical substances and industrial materials, while Nepal’s agricultural products including tea, ginger and broom grass are the key exported goods from eastern Nepal. #nepal #rss
