Nepali players not included in Pakistan Super League



KATHMANDU: Nepali cricket players who were previously included in the draft of Pakistan Super League (PSL) have failed in the final selection.

The PSL had included 10 Nepali cricket players in the draft. The final draw was held on Sunday night in Pakistan.

No Pakistani team has shown interest in including Nepali players for 2021 season.

Former captains from Nepal Paras Khadka, aspiring leg spinner Sandeep Lamichhane, Dipendra Singh Airy, Gyanendra Malla, Karan KC, Kushal Malla, Avinash Bohora, Pawan Sarraf, Subash Khakurel and Asif Sheikh were included in the draft of PSL.

More than 400 players from 20 different countries were included in the draft.

Nepali players were in the draft for the different groups. Lamichhane was in the most expensive platinum category and nine other players were in the silver category.

Eight Nepali players were also in the draft for last year’s PSL, however no Nepali players got chance to play PSL.

Gayle, Rashid top picks

According to mykhel.com, the draft for Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2021 has been completed and the six franchises have finalised their squads for the upcoming sixth edition of the upcoming PSL, Pakistan Cricket Board’s marquee event.

Big names in T20 cricket such as Chris Gayle, Rashid Khan, David Miller, Chris Lynn, Tom Banton were amongst the top international players to have been picked by the franchises.

A total of 25 foreign players went under the hammer and several big names were traded ahead of the domestic T20 league to be held in Karachi and Lahore from 20 February to 22 March.

In this year’s PSL draft, each side must have a minimum squad of 16 players and can have a maximum squad of 18 players as per the following combination – three platinum, three diamond, three gold, five silver, two emerging and two supplementary (optional).
