Government focused only on protecting corruption in first hundred days: Prachanda

Kathmandu, Oct 23: Chairman of the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Centre) and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ has criticized the government for being solely focused on protecting corrupt individuals during its first hundred days in office.

During a meeting this morning with officials from the party-affiliated Nepal Intellectuals Organization, Prachanda made these remarks.

“The government has completed its first hundred days, and what we suspected at the time of its formation has been confirmed within this period,” he stated. “Not only opposition parties but also leaders from civil society and even within the ruling coalition have expressed dissatisfaction. This clearly shows that the government is failing in its duties and is instead focusing on inappropriate actions.”

He also highlighted the controversial act of the Prime Minister’s party accepting land donations from a disputed businessman, asserting that these actions confirm the government’s alignment with corruption.

Prachanda pointed out instances where, instead of addressing industries’ overdue payments, efforts were made to remove the executive director of the electricity authority, and there were attempts to dismiss the deputy speaker over minor technical issues.

He indicated plans for his party to raise its voice against the government’s misconduct on the streets, announcing that a vigilance meeting would be organized in Kathmandu on November 10 by the Bagmati, Special, and Coordination Provincial Committees of his party.

Prachanda mentioned that five opposition parties have already submitted a memorandum urging the government to halt its negative practices and focus on its responsibilities.

He noted that a favorable atmosphere is developing nationwide for the party and urged the intellectuals’ organization to enhance its role accordingly. #prachanda #coalition
