Chitwan, Dec 19: A total of 1,269 households in Madi Municipality, Chitwan, have been identified as living below the poverty line, according to newly released data. Based on a notification issued by Madi Municipality, these families have been categorized as extremely poor, moderately poor, and generally poor.
The data was published following the Poverty Identification Survey 2078 conducted by the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, and Poverty Alleviation. According to municipal information officer Prabin Bhandari, the survey was carried out by eight enumerators and one supervisor across nine wards of the municipality since 2078 BS. Questionnaires were designed in accordance with specific guidelines, focusing on household income, expenditure, economic conditions, and other related factors.
The municipality has also published a 15-day notice for families included in the preliminary list to correct names or update details if necessary. Families on this list will receive identification cards and be given top priority in government-provided services and benefits, according to Information Officer Bhandari.
Madi Municipality Mayor Tara Kumari Kaji Mahato stated that the identification of impoverished families will aid in the planning of future programs. She emphasized that the data will play a crucial role in designing targeted initiatives for poverty alleviation. #nepal #poverty
