Beneficiaries, local bodies sign agreement for reconstruction of houses



Achham, Jan 17: The reconstruction of houses for earthquake-affected individuals, following the earthquake centered in Doti on Kartik 22, 2079 BS, has commenced in Achham.

The initiative began with the reconstruction of the house of Khanti Kami, a resident of Mangalsen Municipality-5, through an agreement between the beneficiary and the local bodies, informed Chief District Officer Shiva Prasad Lamsal.

As per the letter and report received from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, Singha Durbar, Kathmandu, arrangements were made to identify and finalize beneficiaries for the reconstruction of private residences affected by the disaster.

According to the Disaster-Affected Private Housing Strengthening, Reconstruction, and Resettlement Grant Procedure, 2081, the agreement was initiated with Khanti Kami, the wife of Sete Kami, a completely affected beneficiary of Mangalsen Municipality-5.

The formal agreement for Kami’s house reconstruction was signed on Thursday at the ward office of Mangalsen Municipality-5 between Ward Chairperson Jhankar Prasad Bhat and the beneficiary.

The reconstruction or repair funds will be provided directly to the beneficiaries through their respective local authorities.

The earthquake impacted 5,540 households across ten local units in Achham district.

The beneficiaries include:

Mangalsen Municipality: 456 households

Kamalbazar Municipality: 285 households

Panchadewal Binayak Municipality: 75 households

Chaurpati Rural Municipality: 760 households

Dhakari Rural Municipality: 89 households

Sanphebagar Municipality: 2,428 households

Ramaroshan Rural Municipality: 200 households

Mellekh Rural Municipality: 603 households

Turmakhand Rural Municipality: 18 households

Bannigadhi Jayagad Rural Municipality: 626 households
