Nepal, China sign agreement to promote Chinese traditional archery



Kathmandu, Nov 6: A three-year cooperation agreement has been signed between the Mianyang Wushu Association of Sichuan Province, China, the Martial Art Organization Nepal, and the Kathmandu Ghenji Chinese Traditional Archery and Martial Art Organization to promote and develop the Wushu sport.

The agreement was signed by Rajiv Maharjan, President of the Martial Art Organization Nepal, and Li Qing, Executive Director of the Sichuan Provincial Wushu Association and Secretary-General of the Mianyang Wushu Association.

The agreement states that both sides will work together to promote and expand the traditional Chinese archery and Wushu sport in both countries.

The signing ceremony was attended by Li Xin, Deputy Mayor of Mianyang City, and Lan Limin and Jiang Hua, Vice Presidents of the Mianyang Wushu Association.

According to the agreement, both sides will send delegations annually to each other’s countries to conduct Wushu training programs. Experts and scholars from both sides will engage in academic exchanges covering topics such as the history, philosophy, training science, and sports medicine of Wushu.

The agreement also includes the exchange of qualified instructors for short-term teaching and training, and the selection and professional training of promising athletes with technical guidance and resources to be provided by the Mianyang Wushu Association.

To further enhance bilateral relations and the popularity of Wushu, the two sides will jointly organize China-Nepal Friendship Wushu Championships and take turns hosting international Wushu tournaments in both countries. They will also cooperate in sending teams to participate in each other’s major events and share responsibilities in managing Wushu judges and referees.

Moreover, both sides aim to use Wushu not only as a sport but also as a means to promote sports tourism, attracting global Wushu enthusiasts through initiatives such as the “Chinese Kung Fu Root-Seeking Tour – Nepal Gen Martial Arts Practice Tour.”

Rajiv Maharjan, President of Martial Art Organization Nepal and Secretary of Kathmandu Ghenji Traditional Archery and Martial Art Organization, said the agreement marks a milestone for the development of Wushu in Nepal and will also contribute to the promotion of sports tourism between the two countries. #nepal #china #archery #wushu
