Janakpur, Nov 26: The weeklong Sitaram Bibaha Panchami festival has concluded with the ritual of Ramkalewa. After the wedding of Ram and Janaki (Sita), the Sadhus who had arrived as part of the wedding procession (Janti) were offered a feast of 56 varieties of delicacies and bid farewell, marking the end of the festival.
Even today, Sadhus were served sweets and delicacies in the courtyard of the Janaki Temple and were respectfully offered gift before being sent off. This ritual is known as Ramkalewa.The Sadhus were given warm blankets, water pots (kamandal), and money as gift.
During the Ramkalewa ceremony held in the Janaki Temple premises, cultural musical performances reflecting the identity of Mithila were presented. The temple premises were crowded with devotees who had gathered to witness the Ramkalewa ritual. #nepal #janakpur
