Kathmandu: The Embassy of Pakistan in Kathmandu organized the award distribution ceremony for the 13th Annual Ambassador of Pakistan Essay Writing Competition and the 9th Annual Ambassador of Pakistan Speech Competition–2026 on Wednesday. Pakistan’s Ambassador to Nepal, Abrar H Hashmi, attended the event as the chief guest.
This year’s essay competition marked the 150th birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, founder of Pakistan. Students wrote on the topic “Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah mainstreaming the demand for Pakistan through constitutional means.”

In the essay category, Pratik Pokhrel from Viswa Niketan Secondary School, Kathmandu secured first position, while Dakshesh Ghimire from Chand Bagh School finished second and Nitin Thapa from Pranjali World School achieved third place. Winners received certificates and cash prizes, while 12 additional students were honored with special prizes and certificates.

For the speech competition, Higher Secondary and tertiary-level students presented their views on the topic “Will AI Engulf Libraries?” In the category, Vishwakala Nepal from Reliance College, Kathmandu secured first place, Tshiring Tamang from National Law College stood second, and Bipyum Chaulagain from St. Xavier College, Maitighar, finished third. The remaining participants also received certificates and cash awards.
More than 50 Higher Secondary schools and universities across Nepal participated in the competitions, which were conducted in phases over the past two weeks before concluding with the final award ceremony.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Hashmi praised the students for their critical thinking and intellectual engagement on important issues. He highlighted the importance of understanding constitutional processes and acknowledged the role of such initiatives in strengthening youth engagement and fostering people-to-people ties between Nepal and Pakistan.
The essay and speech competitions have been organized annually for the past 13 and 9 years respectively and continue to attract talented students from across Nepal. #nepal
