NC leader Koirala urges government to create environment conducive for elections

Dr Shekhar Koirala

Biratnagar, Dec 20: Central member of the Nepali Congress, Dr Shekhar Koirala, has emphasised that the government should create an environment where the people can vote in a fair and fearless atmosphere for the House of Representatives elections to be held on coming March 5.

In discussions with the Nepali Congress leaders and workers at Biratnagar Metropolitan City–6 today, he expressed the view that both the government and the party workers need to cooperate and coordinate to create an election environment.

He said that the possibility of a fair election is unlikely in an atmosphere of fear and intimidation, and called on the government to take special initiatives to address this.

“Around 5,000 prisoners who had escaped on September 9 during the Gen Z movement are still at large. About five to seven thousand weapons looted from the police have not been recovered.

Therefore, there is an atmosphere of fear and threat among the general public. In such a situation, the government, political parties and relevant bodies must all coordinate to create an environment for elections,” leader Koirala said.

Koirala said that the Nepali Congress is a responsible party that operates according to the will of the people, and is moving towards holding the party’s general convention along with the election environment. ‘All industrialists, businessmen should work towards nation’s economic progress’

Meanwhile, leader Koirala has said that all entrepreneurs and businesspeople must engage to improve the country’s declining economic situation.

Inaugurating the exhibition of domestic products organised here today by the Terapantha Mahila Mandal, he emphasised that after the Covid-19 pandemic, the state and all entrepreneurs and businessmen must work hand in hand to improve the country’s economic situation.

He urged the government to emphasise on ending corruption and promoting good governance in the country.

Koirala said that the government should introduce special liberal policies in the fields of religious and adventure tourism, information technology, agricultural modernization, and health to increase the income level of Nepal and Nepalis.

Mandal’s Chairperson Milan Naulakha stated that women workers have contributed to the country’s economic development. Domestic products have been displayed in 32 stalls at the one-day exhibition. #nepal #rss
