Kathmandu, March 10: Bangladesh Ambassador to Nepal Md. Shafiqur Rahman hosted an iftar-dinner in honour of Heads of Mission and members of the diplomatic corps in Kathmandu on Tuesday, bringing together diplomats, senior government officials and representatives of international organisations.
Senior officials from Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other distinguished guests attended the event.
Welcoming the guests, Ambassador Rahman extended Ramadan greetings and reflected on the spirit and teachings of the holy month. He highlighted the longstanding friendly relations between Bangladesh and Nepal and reaffirmed Bangladesh’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation.

The envoy also congratulated the people of Nepal for conducting peaceful and successful elections, describing the process as an important milestone in the country’s democratic journey. He praised the resilience and aspiration of the Nepali people in ensuring a smooth democratic transition and expressed Bangladesh’s readiness to work with Nepal’s new government.
Referring to Bangladesh’s own political journey, the ambassador said the country’s new government is committed to advancing democratic reforms and building a discrimination-free, corruption-free and prosperous Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

The evening concluded with iftar followed by dinner featuring a mix of international cuisine and Bangladeshi seafood dishes.
Heads of Mission from 18 embassies, along with representatives from international and regional organisations, attended the event held at a hotel in Kathmandu. Diplomats present included ambassadors from Germany, France, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Finland, Japan, Egypt and Myanmar, as well as charge d’affaires from the United States, Malaysia and Russia, and deputy chiefs of mission from India and the United Kingdom.
The Secretary-General of SAARC, the UN Resident Coordinator and the head of the International Labour Organization (ILO) in Nepal were also among the attendees. #nepal
